Every two years St. Anne's School does a production. A lot of hard work goes into in from the teachers and the students. There are costumes and backdrops to be made as well as dialogue and songs to learn. We also have help from the ''Up Foundation" and Gemma who was our drama coach.
'Up Foundation' was established to create more opportunities for tamariki and their whanau in Wellington City and beyond, to participate in community-led sport, drama, music and other activities.
In speaking to community groups, they identified that ‘working class’ kids and tamariki are under-represented in community-led activities.
They develop activities for Year 2- 8 students and their whānau to help fill this gap.
Wonderland the Musical
‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ is a strange and wonderful novel written by Lewis Carroll in 1865. The text of the book is dense and old-fashioned and has been described as a prime example of literary nonsense. What relevance, then, has it for a 21st century young performer?
This updated and exciting new adaptation brings Alice into our modern world and provides a new angle to her story, giving her the opportunity to talk to her parents about letting a little colour and fun back into their rather black and white lives. It allows her to question her own thoughts and feelings and to be able to make up her own mind about things.
