Garden to Table teaches children essential life skills in a fun, engaged and hands-on way.

This programme equips our Room 9 children with both an understanding of sustainability and a love of good food by helping them to develop skills and enthusiasm through creating healthy meals. Our children become involved in all aspects of gardening in an environmentally sustainable garden, and cooking and then enjoying a delicious, seasonal meal that they have produced themselves. This curriculum-integrated programme provides real-world learning opportunities for children outside the traditional classroom environment and promotes engagement with the wider community as it encourages the children to bring home what they have learned about growing, harvesting, preparing and cooking food. Children develop increased self-esteem, pride in their achievements and pride in their environment.
